Class summary for Sept 13

We had 30 kids in attendance and it was wonderful seeing everyone excited and participating the entire time in the class. We talked about greeting everyone in the class, teachers and youth volunteers with “Namaste”. And then we set to talk about “ Krishna”. Arjun, our youth volunteer presented about Krishna’s two parents, how he was safely bundled and taken to Gokul, how Krishna killed the demoness Putna and what it took for Balrama and Krishna to defeat King Kamsa.  While it may seem like lot of  information to introduce to little ones  we were pleasantly surprised to see kids soaking in all the information and there were few who also had some new information to share with the class. “Krishna is so strong that he can stay under water for a long time holding his breath, only a God like him can do it”. Another interesting observation was “ Krishna’s brother is Balram.”

The next part of the class was spent watching a video on Krishna’s pranks and conquest. We are very lucky to have Poorna as teacher in our class as she also teaches bhajan for the entire Balavihar students, taught a Krishna Bhajan “ Govind Bolo hari, Gopala bolo”, and per Poorna   "the kids sang with great enthusiasm and promise of rewards by way of stickers helped in bringing their voice skills alive." It was a successful second week in BalVihar

For the next week’s class, please take a print out of the picture we will be posting in the site. We will be discussing Dashavatar.
